What Is Realtime Reporting?

What is "Realtime Reporting/Transcription"? For ease of reference, I will refer to this as "realtime" from here on out. "Realtime" is: Transcription of proceedings by a stenographic court reporter using technology known as Computer-Aided Transcription ("CAT") to deliver "realtime text," which is text that is transmitted to a computer almost instantaneously, in English, as it is being written by the court reporter on a stenographic keyboard (as opposed to a QWERTY keyboard)
Stenographic Court Reporters can also transmit the "realtime transcription" using the Internet (called "videostreaming") and thereby make the same almost-instantaneous text available to experts, company representatives, parties who may not be able to be physically at the location where the proceeding is taking place. For the level of realtime that is appropriate for you, see the page "Levels of Realtime Reporting Available."

Only stenographic court reporters are capable of producing "realtime transcription." This is one of many (see "Why do I want to use a stenographic court reporter?") key advantages to using stenographic court reporters for reporting your depositions/trials/etc., as opposed to "digital recording" or recording using a "mask."
